Number Clubs
All my students love to count for me! To promote counting skills, our class members will be joining "Number Clubs." Available club memberships are: "Counting to 20 by Ones" / "Counting to 100 by Ones" / "Counting to 100 by Tens" / "Counting to 100 by Fives" / "Counting to 20 by Twos" / "Counting to 100 by Twos" / "Counting to 1000 by Hundreds" / "Counting to 99 by Elevens" (twin numbers)/ Counting Backwards from 100 to Zero" (blast off!) and "Counting to 100 by Fours" (extra challenging!)

Here's how it works: Your child tells me he/she is ready to become a member of a particular "Number Club." After demonstrating absolute skill in correct counting (I'll be the judge), s/he becomes a club member. Rewards of membership: 1) Mastering a counting skill; 2) Name and picture displayed on classroom poster; 3) Trailblazer ticket; 4) Feeling of accomplishment: Priceless!

In the past every student has become a member of several clubs. Be mindful that it's early in the year and our counting skills will develop over the entire school year. Please be a counting partner with your child.

Adopted Tree
Our class has adopted a beautiful red oak tree located in the front parking lot of Forest Trail. We can see it from our class window! The close proximity makes visitations easy. If you can help us secure seasonal bows, it would help us announce to the world that this particular tree is being loved by Lindergarten. Please contact me if you can make or purchase a large, fall bow for October/November and tie it on our tree.

Portfolio Files
We're filing some of our daily work in our class "portfolio files." When you pop in, please take a look in your child's file.

Traveling Books
We are making class books! When a book project is finished we would love to share it with you. When a class book arrives at your house, please take a few minutes to enjoy it with your child. Ask questions about the theme or the productdion of the book. Here are other ways to enjoy a class book: Read it aloud to your child; Echo read to your child (child echoes back each page after you read the page); Team read (together) or partner read (alternate pages); Have your child read to you; Think of additional pages that connect with the theme; Make a 'spin-off' book. The possibilities are endless! Please make an effort to enjoy the book the day it arrives and send it back to school the next day. It will take a month to get the book to everyone's house, so please don't let the book get 'stuck' at your house for long.
